Are your clients striving for a meaningful change in life? Committed to achieving a goal, but something’s holding them back? Frustrated by inability to overcome an undesired habit, or to adopt a new healthier habit?

Scientific research has long established that willpower is the best predictor of success in life. More than intelligence or inherent talent, willpower is the single most highly correlated determinant of success in all areas of life: career, education, relationships, health, financial stability, and business.

Through videos, exercises and discussion you will:

  1. Learn about the science of willpower and mindfulness
  2. Learn about and practice two science-based interventions that you can use in your own life and with your coaching clients

About our presenter:

International Coach Federation – Long Island Chapter (ICF-LI) Presents:

What Makes Coaching Work? Presence, Partnership, and Positivity

Speaker:  Meryl Moritz

Date: Tuesday October 17, 2017

Time: 6:30 pm-9:00 pm

Place: The Hampton Inn, 120 Jericho Turnpike Jericho, New York 11753

CCE Units:  1.5 ICF CCE Units pending

Successful coaching is not only learning a set of skills and implementing them properly for the benefit of your client. Successful coaching requires a coach to demonstrate 1) Presence, 2) Partnership and 3) Positivity throughout the ‘lifetime’ of the coaching engagement.

In this Workshop you will learn:

  • What does Presence look like?  Presence is more than paying attention in the coaching session, listening, and allowing the Client to do most of the talking. Presence can be observed by how deeply the Coach hears what the Client is saying. Presence can be seen by how alert the Coach is to how the Client is thinking and feeling. Presence is demonstrated by how curious the Coach is to learn about the Client–her learning style, her beliefs, her values, her dreams, her hopes and her fears.
  • What is meant by Partnership in coaching?  All coach-specific training emphasizes that coaching follows the Client’s agenda.  But how is this upheld during the coaching session?  Partnership goes beyond defining a goal for coaching and building an action plan to get to the goal. Partnering with a Client means the Coach is always following the Client’s lead, asking questions about “what next?” in the session.
  • What does Positivity look like when a Coach practices it?  Positivity is evident in the Coach’s mind set or ‘state’ – the Coach sees the potential of the Client at every turn in the road and can remain objective in the face of strong, or negative emotions.

Speaker Profile:  Meryl Moritz is a Master Certified Coach of senior executives, their teams, and high-potentials who are intent on delivering increasingly greater performance and improving business results.
